At the 6th Global Warming Congress, which Organized by the Economic Journalists Association (EGD), Discussed the Compete Against Global Warming in Turkey.
AT THE 6th GLOBAL WARMING CONGRESS,WHICH ORGANIZED BY THE ECONOMIC JOURNALISTS ASSOCIATION(EGD),DISCUSSED THE COMPETE AGAINST GLOBAL WARMING IN TURKEY
The 6th Global Warming Congress was organized by the Economic Journalists Association (EGD) and was supported by Energy Efficiency Association. In Congress, the steps taken to compete against global warming in Turkey were discussed with the participation of local governments and private sector partners. Pursuant to the 6th Global Warming Congress, a representative of local authorities has assessed the works done about against the global warming in forum with the subject of “What the Local Authorities done about Global Warming?”
EGD Chairman Celal Toprak told with the congress they were aimed to raise awareness in community. Toprak remarked that the journalist has the great responsibility about the world’s common problem in global warming. Toprak said, “As a professional organization we would like to contribute the world a better place with this convention while leaving the scientific side to the scientists.”
Toprak said, “We did not leave a better world for future generations.” and “We believe that we all have a responsibility here. So none of us are innocent. Here with this convention, we are discussing the issue of how we can repair a mistake, how we can correct a mistake and listening the youths opinions.”
TIM Former President and Board Member of Energy Efficiency Association Oğuz Satıcı remarked the rapid industrialization process, which given rise by global warming, lead to disaster from time to time and he showed the disaster which occurred in Manisa, Soma as sample. Satıcı said, “Unfortunately global warming has very sad incidents for us. As macro meaning, global warming is the problem of greenhouse effect created in ozone layer, but perhaps cause the disasters like Soma which sorrow us deeply.
After the speeches, in panel called “ How does Media Looking at Climate Change?”, journalists talked about the press attitudes and behaviors on global warm.
